Greg Young of the Kelowna Rockets was on top of his game.

The 23-year-old tantalized the Beaumont Drillers with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 6-0.

"He had the changeup working," Beaumont manager Takuzo Kaneshiro said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."

The Kelowna hurler had 8 strikeouts, gave up no walks and surrendered 2 hits in his complete-game effort.

Young told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."

"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.

Checking out his season stats to date, Young has no saves in no relief appearances. He's posted a record of 12 and 5 with an ERA of 2.48.
