Drillers Win Slugfest, 12-10
The Kelowna Rockets could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Joe Ranieri into a win. Instead, the Beaumont Drillers prevailed, 12-10. Ranieri went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Steve Surprenant got the win, improving to 7-7. He held the Rockets to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6 innings, while striking out 9 and walking 6. The 5th-place Rockets now sit at 53-70.

Luis Reyes had a big 2-run double for the Drillers in the bottom of the first inning. With Beaumont trailing 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Javier Rios, who is tied for 3rd in the RAA with a 9.2 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to center. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Drillers ahead, 2-1.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Reyes.
