Wolverines Fall Short, 4-3, at Niagara Falls
The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters and Wichita Wolverines played an exciting game.

The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters topped the Wichita Wolverines, 4-3, in TML AA action at Pipe Fitters Park. The standout performance belonged to Niagara Falls pitcher and Laguna, California, native Jay Gross. The second-place Pipe Fitters improved to 74-48.

The Pipe Fitters got a big at-bat from third baseman Charlie Long. For the game, Long went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Niagara Falls a 4-3 lead.

"Bottom line," said Wichita skipper Abel Keller, "we didn't play well enough to win."
