Cornhuskers Win at Fraser Valley, 6-3
|
The inspired effort of Fraser Valley designated hitter Ross Widenhofer was not enough to prevent a 6-3 loss to the DeKalb Cornhuskers. Widenhofer was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ted Gray was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities. DeKalb is now 71-51, 3½ games up in the TMLAA Bruce Bochy Division.
DeKalb relied on the bat of Diego Patino to get the win. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Cornhuskers ahead, 2-0. For the game, Patino had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Patino said.
