Boston beat DeKalb on the strength of starting pitcher John Spears's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. Spears got the win, improving to 10-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Whitecaps are now 62-41, while the Cornhuskers fall to 45-58.

John Day had a big 2-run home run for the Whitecaps in the top of the second inning.
