Ruiz Stars in 9-7 Win for Buzzard's Bay
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats extended their winning streak.

The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats topped the Silicon Valley Hackers by a score of 9-7. Leading the way was third baseman Gus Ruiz. Ruiz was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Beetlecats. John Peters earned the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 31st of the year.

The Hackers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Beetlecats going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 27-year old catcher Bill Caron came to the plate. Caron hit a solo home run on a full count fastball from Silicon Valley hurler Shota Shibata. It was Caron's 11th home run of the year.

"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Caron.

Today's win puts Buzzard's Bay at 72-31, while Silicon Valley falls to 60-43.
