Wolverines Stay Hot, Beat Snaps

The Wichita Wolverines powered past the Cincinnati Snaps, 12-5, at Howling Park. Sal Reyes went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 4 times and driving in 2, to lead the charge. Javier Macias picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 4-9. This win makes it 5 in a row for Wichita.
Masanobu Shimada had a big 2-run single for the Wolverines in the bottom of the third inning. With Wichita leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Brad Ball and stroked the single to right. It was his 54th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 6-3.
"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Shimada, "but we could've played better."
