Wolverines Score Late to Upend Mustang, 6-4
|
Masanobu Shimada was instrumental in his team's 6-4 triumph over the Carson City Mustang. The center fielder was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Wichita Wolverines. Wichita reliever Mike Price picked up the win, upping his record to 5-7. Nick Germinaro was saddled with the loss. The Wolverines' win now puts them at 60-89.
The game came to a dramatic end. In the bottom of the ninth, with Wichita trailing 4-3, Shimada hit a fastball from Nick Germinaro for a 3-run home run, giving the Wolverines the walk-off win.
"We'll enjoy this win for now, but it's just one," Shimada told local reporters. "We've got to keep it going."
