Win Makes Boston 63-54
The Boston Whitecaps dealt the Silicon Valley Hackers a 6-2 loss at The Studio. Alfredo Diaz was the star on offense. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3. Antonio Mendoza went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. The right-hander struck out 7 and walked 3. With the win, he's now 6-1 this season. The win boosted Boston to 63-54.

The Whitecaps got a big at-bat from second baseman Rich Tooze. For the game, Tooze was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.

Tooze said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
