Spartans Edge Cornhuskers, 8-7
|
It was a fun time at The Coliseum, where the DeKalb Cornhuskers and Sandy Springs Spartans tangled.
Benefiting from Jerry Harman's productive game, the Sandy Springs Spartans downed the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 8-7. Harman went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Spartans. The win was credited to Tsutomu Mori in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Tom Bendorf took the loss. Jerry Cruz, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Clark Trottier provided some late-game heroics for Sandy Springs. In the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 0-1 splitter from Tom Bendorf and propelled Sandy Springs to a 8-7 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Trottier said.
Sandy Springs is 65-52 and DeKalb, with the loss, 68-49.
