Ruiz Powers Beetlecats to 10-7 Win
The Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats defeated the Pacifica Shamrocks, 10-7, at The Coffee Grinder. Buzzard's Bay shortstop Gus Ruiz had a superb performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 5. John Peters earned the save for Buzzard's Bay, his 30th. The Beetlecats, at 70-31, have now won 5 straight.

The Shamrocks had been locked in a 7-7 tie with the Beetlecats going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old first baseman Jayden Byrd came to the plate. Byrd hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Pacifica hurler Ignazio Menichelli. It was Byrd's 23rd double of the year.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Dorian Payne said.
