Murraysville Peacocks starter Steve Gilligan hurled his team past the Beaumont Drillers, 7-2. Gilligan, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Beaumont has now lost 4 in a row.
Bob Garay had a big 2-run double for the Peacocks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Murraysville leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Yukimasa Kobayashi and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Peacocks ahead, 4-0.
"Steve was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Murraysville manager Joseph Kelley.
