The Bighorn Bison topped the Cabo San Lucas Toreros, 9-0, in Roberto Clemente League action at Field de Los Layendas. The standout performance belonged to Bighorn pitcher and Iguala, Mexico, native Mel Ibarra. Ibarra, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 3 walks. Gabe Scala closed the game out for Bighorn, earning his 1st save.
The Bison got a lift from shortstop Gordie Grant, who in the top of the fifth stroked a first pitch fastball into right for a run-scoring single. It was his 21st hit of the season and put the Bison ahead, 2-0.
"We didn't put up much resistance," said losing manager Bob Alexander.
The win gives Bighorn a season record of 22-17.
