The Evanston Bishops topped the Sandy Springs Spartans, 8-2, with second baseman Larry Gilliland playing a big role. Gilliland went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Bishops in the win. Rafael Barreto snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 4.2 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. With the win over Sandy Springs, the Bishops improved to 64-34.

Evanston used a clutch at-bat from Jason Shannon to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bishops ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
