Peacocks Pull Off Thrilling 5-4 Win in Extras
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Murraysville Peacocks and Adirondack Lumberjacks came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Murraysville Peacocks picked up a win at Paul Bunyan Field, knocking off the Adirondack Lumberjacks, 5-4, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Danny Baldwin played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Tom Freeborn in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Mark Buchholz took the loss.
Jason Newman went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for Murraysville. The 25-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mark Buchholz. It was his 29th RBI of the season.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Joseph Kelley, the Murraysville manager.
Murraysville is now 51-48, Adirondack 64-33.
