Pipe Fitters Sneak Past Indians, 5-4
|
The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters and Wauwatosa Indians obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.
Wauwatosa got a valiant performance from pitcher Dustin Watson, but it wasn't enough to beat the Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters. Niagara Falls won the game, 5-4. Watson threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Steve Hoefling recorded the save for Niagara Falls, his 6th of the season.
Had Jeff Farrell not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Farrell hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Pipe Fitters.
"I think we all put in a good day's work," said Farrell.
The Pipe Fitters are now 46-51, while the Indians fall to 58-38.
