Whitecaps Turn Back Carson City, 9-8
|
In a high-scoring contest between Boston and Carson City, third baseman Brenton Perfect was a difference-maker. Perfect, who is tied for 10th in the TAA with a .322 batting average, distinguished himself in the 9-8 Boston win. He was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while adding 5 RBI. Chris Knotts collected save number 1. With the win, the Whitecaps improved to 58-37.
In the bottom of the sixth, Boston right fielder Matt Farmer had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Farmer stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 7-5, Boston. For the game, he went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk.
"Being in first place now is good," said Farmer. "Being in first at the end of the season is better. That's our goal."
