Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters starter Matt Wright turned in a top-notch performance against the Wichita Wolverines at Pipe Fitters Park. The result was a win for the Pipe Fitters, 4-1. Steve Hoefling earned the save, his 5th. Niagara Falls is 4th in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division with a record of 45-51.
The Pipe Fitters got a big at-bat from shortstop Jeffrey Hicks. For the game, Hicks was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave Niagara Falls a 2-0 lead.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Wright said.
