Bishops Take Down Drillers, 5-3
The Evanston Bishops picked up a win at Drillers Stadium, taking down the Beaumont Drillers, 5-3, in 12 innings. On the mound for Evanston was right-hander Symão Alegro. He played a central role in the triumph. Evanston reliever David Lewis snagged the win, upping his record to 2-2. Tom Hughes shouldered the loss. The Bishops improved their record to 44-50 by beating Beaumont.

Evanston needed the clutch hitting of Art Long to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Bishops on top, 5-3. For the game, Long had 1 home run and 1 single in 6 at-bats.

"That's what these guys do," said Bishops manager Harold Planter. "They battle, they fight."
