Hawks Get 14-Inning Win
The Boise Hawks beat the Louisiana Crocodiles, 5-3, in 14 innings. Boise right fielder John Whitney, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 5 for 7 with 5 singles. The winner was Tony Melara in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Roberto Samper took the loss. After today's action, Boise sits at 50-44; Louisiana slips to 51-44.

Boise got a clutch hit from Steve Gibson. The center fielder launched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 14th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a kill shot.

Whitney told a Boise Gazette reporter that he felt "euphoric" after the win.
