Floundering Mavericks Lose 7th Straight
The Montreal Jazz faced a tough opponent in El Paso pitcher Ray Lovelace, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Stade Claude Raymond by a final score of 7-5. Lovelace went 5 innings and allowed 2 runs. Reliever Travis Carroll picked up the win. His record improves to 4-1. Joseph Colombi took the loss. The 5th-place Jazz lifted their record to 18-18.

Alex Madera played the role of hero for Montreal. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a 3-run home run off Joseph Colombi to win the game. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
