The Madison Beehive downed the Boston Whitecaps, 8-1, at The Studio. Stellar pitching by Gary Mims had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the TAA in complete games with 3, handcuffed his opponent all game. Mims, who is tied for 4th in the TAA in complete games with 3, went the distance for Madison. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. The Beehive are now 40-51, while the Whitecaps fall to 52-40.

Madison used a well-timed hit by Steve Porter to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Beehive ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Madison manager Leon Morris.
