Hawks Win 7th Straight, Take Down Drillers, 5-4
|
Hawks left fielder Byron Sanford left his imprint on his team's 5-4 win over the Beaumont Drillers. Sanford went 3-4 with 3 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 for Boise in the contest. Anton Ayala was the winner. He's now 2-2. The loser was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Batten. Jarrett Allen got the save, the 2nd for him this season.
Isaiah Hills dealt the Drillers a blow in the bottom of the sixth. Batting with the bases loaded and Boise leading 3-2, Hills, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, hit a 0-1 cutter for a 2-run single.
"I feel like we're rolling now," Sanford told the Boise Gazette."The dugout is coming alive."
The 4th-place Hawks sport a record of 48-43.
