DeKalb picked up a win at The Corn Crib, bumping off the Wichita Wolverines, 6-2. Pitcher Ciro Della Volpe was a major reason the Cornhuskers emerged victorious. Picking up his 15th save was 19-year old right-handed pitcher Jimmy Johnson. The Wolverines, at 36-70, have lost 5 in a row.

Alfredo Castro had a big 2-run double for the Cornhuskers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With DeKalb leading 2-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Ernesto Luna and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cornhuskers ahead, 4-1.

"Ciro is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said DeKalb manager Trey Burrell.
