|
The Carson City Mustang beat the Fraser Valley Black Bears, 5-1, at The Stetson Bowl. The Mustang got a fine performance from center fielder Aaron Boomgarden, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Francisco Trevino picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-0. He struck out 1 in 6 innings. The 5th-place Black Bears have lost 4 consecutive games.
Boomgarden went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Carson City. With the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Boomgarden, who is tied for 6th in the TAA with a .530 slugging percentage, had a clutch at-bat. That's when he hit a 3-run home run to give the Mustang a 4-1 lead.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Boomgarden.
