The Cape Verde Vesuvius got a sterling performance from pitcher Rich Reimer, but the Hackers still prevailed, 2-1. Reimer was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Silicon Valley reliever Mario Gonzalez picked up the win to move to 4-7. Rich Reimer suffered the loss. Steve Mauger earned the save for Silicon Valley, his 16th of the year.
Kichizo Takata aided the Silicon Valley cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 1-2 with a walk.
Takata told a Silicon Valley Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Hackers raised their record to 52-53.
