Pitcher Lorenzo Rodriguez was sensational for the Evanston Bishops in his team's 8-0 triumph over the Beaumont Drillers. Rodriguez earned the win. Evanston reliever Lorenzo Rodriguez picked up the win. Brian Taylor, who is tied for 6th in the RAA in wins with 9, took the loss for Beaumont. The Bishops lead the TML AA Jim Leyland Division by 5½ games.

Larry Gilliland hit a 3-run home run off Brian Taylor in the bottom of the third, which put the Bishops ahead, 3-0. In addition to the homer, Gilliland had 2 doubles, while going 3 for 4.

"A confident pitcher is a dangerous thing," said Evanston manager Demetrio Recchia. "That's what Lorenzo is right now."
