Carson City Bats Cold in 5-0 Loss
Michael Melis, who leads the TAA in wins with 13, never let the Mustang get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Rats to a win, 5-0. Melis, now 13-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Henry Barahona earned his 1st save in 2 chances.

Rock River relied on the hitting of Neil Highers to pick up the win. The left fielder ripped a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rats on top, 2-0. For the game, Highers had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"No disrespect to the other team," said Rock River manager Shunso Sato. "But it's nice to get an easy win."

The Rats, at 72-30, sit in second place in the TML AA Bruce Bochy Division.
