Zydek Homers Twice in 7-3 Hawks Win
|
The Boise Hawks beat the Clearwater Seagulls, 7-3, at Chapman Field. The win was due in part to second baseman Ben Zydek, who went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Anton Ayala got the win, improving to 1-2. He worked 8 innings, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. The Hawks improved to 43-43.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jose Vidaurri? The Boise shortstop had a bases-clearing double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Hawks on top, 3-0. For the game, Vidaurri had 2 doubles and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
Said Clearwater manager Ayub Ndadaye: "They just got the better of us."
