Cornhuskers Find a Way to Win
Juan Cruz did all he could to help his team prevail. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Evanston Bishops from losing the game, 5-4, to the DeKalb Cornhuskers in 14 innings at FUBU Field. Cruz went 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. DeKalb pitcher Frank Sturge earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Jesus Sanchez suffered the loss. DeKalb is now 52-48, Evanston 57-41.

It could have been a different outcome for DeKalb, had it not been for Gil de Aquino, the 24-year old shortstop . de Aquino contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 14th inning to put DeKalb up, 5-4.

"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said de Aquino. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
