Wolverines Drop Beetlecats with Late Score

The Wichita Wolverines beat the Buzzard's Bay Beetlecats, 7-5, at Howling Park. The Wolverines got a fine performance from left fielder Josh Henry, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Manny Anchondo in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Bobby Mitchell took the loss. The 5th-place Wolverines now have a 4-game winning streak.
Masanobu Shimada produced at a critical juncture for Wichita. It happened in the bottom of the eighth with Bobby Mitchell on the mound and Wichita trailing 5-3. That's when the 21-year old center fielder Shimada hit a grand slam.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Shimada said.
