Black Bears Clip Bulldogs, 7-6
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears overcame a good performance by Spokane first baseman Chris Schanzer to knock off Spokane, 7-6, at The Stetson Bowl. Schanzer went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Fraser Valley reliever Luis Sida picked up the win, upping his record to 1-3. Ismael Aguilar took the loss. Alex Marquez sewed up the save, his 11th.
Katsuhiko Asada had a go-ahead single for Fraser Valley in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, the 24-year old right fielder hit a 2-run single off Ismael Aguilar. His 32nd hit of the season made the score 7-6.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Asada, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
Today's win puts Fraser Valley at 50-45, while Spokane falls to 50-45.
