Bishops Fall to Wolverines, 7-1
|
Starting pitcher Craig Ericson did his part in helping the Wichita Wolverines thwart the Evanston Bishops, 7-1. Ericson, the winner, moves to 4-5. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 5 walks. The Wolverines now own a record of 30-51.
Mike Hess had a big 2-run double for the Wolverines in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Wichita leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Caleb Broussard and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wolverines ahead, 3-0.
"Craig gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Wichita skipper John Bunce.
