Butterflies Get One-Run Win at El Paso
|
Hurler Wayne Duncan gave the Pennsylvania Butterflies a solid start. The native of Dunblane, Saskatchewan helped his team defeat the El Paso Mavericks, 3-2, at The Corral. Duncan got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Pennsylvania bumps their record to 19-18 with the win.
Pennsylvania used a clutch at-bat from Fidel Martinez to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Butterflies ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"For the most part, I stayed out of the middle of the plate," Duncan said.
