The Evanston Bishops had to overcome a big game from Boston designated hitter Bobby Washburn to leave FUBU Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5. Washburn was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Evanston reliever Tom Elliott picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Eric Long was saddled with the loss. Jerry Bamberg saved it for Evanston.

Adam Ruma drove in one run for Evanston. The 21-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Eric Long. It was his 10th RBI of the season.

Ruma told reporters after the game: "All's well that ends well."

The Bishops sport a record of 52-27.
