Madison got a decent performance from pitcher Gary Mims, but it wasn't enough to beat the Wichita Wolverines. Wichita won the The Hive contest, 7-4. Mims threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Reliever Bill Rodriguez picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Sean Davis took the loss. Luis Segarra recorded the save, making him 18 for 20.

Wichita used a timely hit from Jordan Tackett to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Wolverines ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"We didn't go down without a fight," said Madison manager Leon Morris.

After today's action, Wichita sits at 28-50, while Madison falls to 33-45.
