Pipe Fitters Collect 9-2 Win Versus Windsor
|
The Niagara Falls Pipe Fitters beat the Windsor Royals, 9-2, at Windsor Grounds. Niagara Falls right fielder Jose Cortez banged out 2 singles and 2 doubles, while driving in 4 runs. Picking up his 2nd save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Brendon Wager. Niagara Falls sits in third place in the TML AA Jim Leyland Division at 43-32.
Byron Hogan had a big 2-run home run for the Pipe Fitters in the top of the first inning. With Niagara Falls leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Gary Selby, who is tied for 10th in the TAA in innings pitched with 96.0, and punished it. The result was his 13th home run of the season, which put the Pipe Fitters on top, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Niagara Falls manager Bryant Thomas.
