The Louisiana Crocodiles licked the Pacifica Shamrocks, 7-3. Brad Downey deserved a big chunk of the credit. The designated hitter was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Crocodiles. Louisiana pitcher Danny Siwek got the win. He's now 1-1. Chris Barratt was tagged with the loss. Pacifica is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 9 games.

There was more than one reason the Crocodiles beat the Shamrocks, but Downey's big at-bat in the bottom of the third was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"I want us to come out, have fun, hit some balls, and score. We're having a tough time," said Pedro Mercado, the Pacifica manager.
