Hackers Bridle Hawks, 4-2
|
The Silicon Valley Hackers picked up a win at San Jose Municipal Stadium, knocking off the Boise Hawks, 4-2. Starting pitcher Willie Marmolejo, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Marmolejo went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 6, and struck out 6. His record improves to 8-7. Picking up the save was Steve Mauger, his 11th.
The Hackers got an important contribution from designated hitter Ryan Ray, who in the bottom of the third hit a 2-2 fastball into left for a run-scoring double. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Hackers ahead, 2-1.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Marmolejo.
Boise, at 39-47, has lost 4 straight.
