The San Antonio Storm Troopers went home winners at Cowboys Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Alex Maldonado. Maldonado silenced the Carson City Mustang, enabling San Antonio to grab the 3-1 win. San Antonio reliever Dave Sheldon got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Tyler Eichelberger was tagged with the loss. Jeremy Anis closed the door for San Antonio, picking up his 13th save of the year.
San Antonio used the timely hitting of Gerardo Puente to capture the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Storm Troopers on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"It was just a matter of executing," said San Antonio manager Yen-nien Zhou.
The Storm Troopers now have a record of 43-42 with the win over Carson City.
