Rockets Pull Out Late-Game Win, 3-2
|
The Carson City Mustang got a sterling performance from pitcher Tommy Ferguson, but the Kelowna Rockets still prevailed, 3-2. Ferguson threw 9.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Ryan Wride, credited with the save, is now 3 for 3 in save opportunities. The win puts Kelowna at 38-34 this season.
Kelowna used the timely hitting of Malik Cousin to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rockets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Afterward, Rockets manager Ch'ak'iso Chaga was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
