Beaumont Drops Sandy Springs in Pitchers' Duel
|
The Coliseum was the site of a competitive game between the Sandy Springs Spartans and Beaumont Drillers.
The Beaumont Drillers took Sandy Springs pitcher Cesar Magana's best shot and still were able to claim a win at The Coliseum. The final score had Beaumont getting past the Spartans, 2-1. Magana went 8.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. Beaumont is now 37-44, while Sandy Springs is 43-36.
Joe Phelan, who is tied for 3rd in the RAA in bases on balls with 47, had a direct impact on the outcome. Phelan contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Beaumont up, 2-1.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Drillers manager Takuzo Kaneshiro.
