Thanks in large part to shortstop Albert Maldonado, the Hawaii Honu beat the Bighorn Bison, 5-3. Maldonado went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 times. Hawaii is now 19-15. Bighorn is 14-21.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the fifth. That's when Honu second baseman Ramon Torres hit a changeup from Jeff Lee for a 2-run single. Just like that, Hawaii was up, 4-3.
"We're feeling good in this clubhouse right now after that one," Maldonado told the Hawaii Today.
