Black Bears Get Hard-Earned Win
The Stetson Bowl played host to some real drama.

The Fraser Valley Black Bears had to overcome a big game from Spokane first baseman Nick Rivard to leave The Stetson Bowl with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4, in 10 innings. Rivard went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Armando Gimenez, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings.

The decisive blow was delivered by Steven Coulter in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old left-handed pitcher Guillermo Villareal to win the game for Fraser Valley. The home crowd went nuts.

"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Coulter.

Fraser Valley has won 3 straight, while Spokane has lost 8 in a row.
