Rockets Edge Storm Troopers, 9-8
|
Kelowna beat San Antonio at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum, escaping with a 9-8 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Mario Emiliano, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. Kelowna reliever Noah Speech got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Trent Gahan was tagged with the loss. Kelowna has 3 straight wins, San Antonio 3 straight losses.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Emiliano hit a slider from Trent Gahan for a solo home run. The Rockets, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"Mario is still learning," said Rockets manager Ramón Rivera. "The sky's the limit for him."
