Shamrocks Squelch Bishops Offense in Shutout Win
The Pacifica Shamrocks got a good effort from starter Edwin Mendiola in defeating the Evanston Bishops at McCormick Field. The final score was 4-0. Mendiola, now 5-7, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Pacifica has now won 3 straight, while the Bishops have lost 5 in a row.

The Shamrocks got a big at-bat from center fielder Jimmy Fifer. For the game, Fifer slugged 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Pacifica a 2-0 lead.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Evanston manager Harold Planter.
