Drillers Pin 6-4 Loss on DeKalb

The Beaumont Drillers defeated the DeKalb Cornhuskers, 6-4, in RCL AA action at Drillers Stadium. Beaumont pitcher Antonio Barona had a standout performance. The winner was Barona. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Paul Nisbet. Jacob Allen was credited with the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.
The Drillers got a big at-bat from left fielder Yasumitsu Watanabe. For the game, Watanabe went 1-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Beaumont a 4-1 lead.
Beaumont manager Takuzo Kaneshiro praised his team's "no BS approach."
The Drillers have now won 5 straight.
