Both teams had their chances, but the Windsor Royals eventually prevailed.

Windsor beat Wichita at Howling Park, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to catcher Mel Brace. He went 1 for 2 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Windsor is second in the RCL AA Gene Mauch Division with a record of 46-27.

Brace had a timely hit for Windsor in the top of the eighth. With Windsor trailing 4-3, he turned a 2-1 slider into a 2-run double. It was his 10th double of the season, making it 5-4, Windsor.

"Feels good to get the job done," Brace said after the game.
