The bats were silent much of the day at Drillers Stadium. But 24-year old second baseman Kevin Douglas produced just enough offense to carry the Drillers past the Frisco Rams, 3-2. Douglas went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles. The winner in relief was Mike Lake. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 4-2. Gregg Boucher, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
The Drillers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Alan Kendrick. For the game, Kendrick went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 11th double of the season gave Beaumont a 3-2 lead.
Douglas told reporters after the game: "Runs were at a premium, so a good win for us."
With the victory, the Drillers upped their record to 37-26.
