Drillers Get Clutch Win, 6-5
|
Drillers fans were treated to an exciting walk-off win.
The Beaumont Drillers used the hitting of second baseman Kyle Brunner to subdue the Spokane Bulldogs, 6-5. For the game, Brunner went 5-6 with a home run, a double, and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Mike LaRiviere snagged the win in relief. He goes to 3-5 on the season. Johnny Parke suffered the loss.
The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Beaumont trailing 5-4, Brunner jumped on a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Johnny Parke and hit a 2-run home run to center. With one swing, the Drillers had a walk-off win.
"When the ball finds the sweet spot," said Brunner, "I can't complain."
The 'W' lifts Beaumont's record to 32-42.
