Black Bears Get Close Win Over Cornhuskers, 7-6
In a tight contest at The Stetson Bowl, the Fraser Valley Black Bears edged the DeKalb Cornhuskers by the score of 7-6. Fraser Valley second baseman Jim Ferguson, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Chris Van der Wiel picked up the win in relief for Fraser Valley, while Gerald Bosma took the loss. The third-place Black Bears have won 8 consecutive games.

The decisive blow was delivered by Edgar Perry in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a bases-clearing double off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gerald Bosma to win the game for Fraser Valley. The home crowd went nuts.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Fraser Valley manager Albert Giles.
